This exciting story starts off with a nice family having their weird old aunt visiting. The two innocent teenage children were enjoying what they thought was just some rather spooky fairy-tales the old aunt was telling them. Aunt Tilda eBook Deborah McClatchey Reviews

I bought this book as a friend of mine suggested it, but didn't tell me anything about it (genre, plot etc).
I was expecting another romance/young adult romance, it turns out instead as a brilliant horror short story.
I found it pretty scary although I'm a keen horror reader.
McClatchey's writing style is quite nice and entertaining. This is the first book I read from this author and definitely will go for another one soon.
As they say, 'never judge a book by its cover' and especially not when it concerns aunts. My aunts are often a tad odd, I even have an aunt that's a white witch. Well, Aunt Tilda has a little more up her sleeve too. A splendid read with some surprising twists. Recommended.
I really enjoyed reading this wonderful story by Deborah McClatchey. the writing style is so unique and very easy to follow that you feel like you're inside of the story. after reading one of her other books I decided that I need to look into more of her work. I'm glad I was able to read another book of hers. I recommend you try this book in particular.
What do you do if you're aunt is a witch -- a real witch, not just a witchy woman who smells funny? Aunt Tilda moves in with Sylvia and Matthew's family. The youngsters soon suspect eccentric Aunt Tilda is practicing witchcraft under their roof! When Sylvia stumbles into a ceremony by a coven of witches, brother Matthew rescues her.

But then surprising things start happening...

I won't ruin this spooky story for you. but author McClatchey The author has done a grand job of preserving freshness, mystery and mysticism in this altogether spellbinding tale.
This was an interesting short novel about a young girl 'coming of age', involving witchcraft. Aunt Tilda is quite a character. I enjoyed it and it held my interest until the very end. I'd love to see a sequel. I gave it 5 stars for keeping me highly entertained. I recommend as a must-read.
A well written book that is very spooky. Aunt Tilda moves in with her family. The young children, Sylvia and Matthew are not happy about this deal. They suspect Aunt Tilda is involved in witchcraft and is very eccentric. Sylvia gets caught in a ceremony of a coven of witches, and luckily her brother Matthew rescues her, but a little surprise awaits the entire family. The author has done a wonderful job, in her writing skills, and creating a spooky atmosphere.
Smooth flowing and easy to read, Well-written,lite horror that is fine for the kids. No worry about nightmares, this witchy wonder is woven around two high school girls that are best friends. One is destined to "become" what she already is. lol Not telling. You must read for yourself. I always enjoy life through the eyes of teens and I wasn't disappointed as the author threw this scary destiny at them replete with well woven historic references to the true horror of Salem, Mass.
